Joe, I drive in heavy freeway traffic for about an hour in each direction every day. By the time I get to my destination, I'm feeling like a heart attack is just around the corner. Is this a valid concern?

Joe says:
According to the American Heart Association, yes. Studies show that people who have an elevated risk of heart attack may be at an even higher risk after driving or riding in heavy traffic. One 5-year study on more than 1,400 people who had heart attacks found that those who spent time in traffic - driving, taking a bus or riding a bike - were more than 3 times as likely to have been in traffic within an hour of the start of their heart attack symptoms. Researcher believe that exhaust, air pollutants, stress and noise increase cardiac risk.
