Joe, I'm pretty good at making healthy food choices, but I tend to overeat. My wife says that it is because I am a fast eater. Is she right?

Joe says:
She might be. Some studies show that people who eat quickly and/or ate until they felt full were three times more likely to be overweight than those who ate at a leisurely pace and stopped eating before they felt full.
Some ways to slow down include:
* Drink water while you are having a meal.
* Focus on food. Avoid reading, watching TV or doing other things while you're eating.
* Serve yourself small portions, and wait 15 - 20 minutes before you go back for seconds. That's the time it takes for your body to get the message that it is satisfied.
