I've read about a new test for inflammation called the PLAC test. How does this work?

Joe says:

PLAC stands for Lipoprotein-Associated Phospholipase A2, an enzyme that is released into the blood when inflammation is present. Currently, testing for C-reactive protein is used to determine the presence of inflammation, and the PLAC test is not intended to replace that. But researchers believe that if the amount of PLAC is high, it may indicate that the cholesterol blockage (plaque) is more likely to rupture, thus triggering a heart attack or stroke. You may want to talk with your doctor about adding this test to your coronary profile.
