My doctor says I need to lose weight. I'm willing to go on a diet but which one - low fat, low carb, cabbage soup? Help!

Joe says:
I have never been in favor of diets that restricted a certain nutrient or was based on eating certain foods. The reason why is that they do not work for a lifetime. As a heart patient, I didn't want a diet for 5 or 6 weeks; I wanted a diet pattern that could last for a lifetime.
Recent studies say that if you want to lose weight, when all is said and done, it comes down to calories. Successful weight loss has less to do with whether those calories are from fat or carbohydrates, and more to do with how much you put in your mouth. And that is good news because it gives each of us flexibility in selecting a plan that works for us.
