Hi Joe; I want to thank you for bringing awareness to a very urgent subject. I come from a family of rampant heart disease—my brother has had three bypasses, both parents died of heart disease and my sister had a massive heart attack at age 50. I am 54 yrs. old and have CAD, and angina and genically high cholesterol. The side effects from the statins completely debilitated my muscles and joints to the point where I could no longer work out or even get up from the floor trying to play with my grandchildren. I went to my cardiologist and said I’m going off the statins and I’m going to lower my cholesterol through diet and exercise. It has been a year, lost 40 lbs. and have lowered my cholesterol by following a heart healthy diet which I learned everything through your book, Road to a Healthy Heart. My cholesterol is 154 and my ratio is 2.0. For a year I have only eaten whole grains—no more white anything or refined sugars, (still enjoy my glass of wine), nuts, beans, fruit, veggies, fish. I have made and served so many of your recipes and everyone has enjoyed them. I just wanted to thank you so much for helping me to get back my quality of life so that I now can enjoy and play with my grandchildren. I consider you a gift that came to me at the right time. God Bless, Judy Finocchario from Rochester, N.Y.

Hi Judy,

Thanks for your kind comments about THE ROAD TO A HEALTHY HEART RUNS THROUGH THE KITCHEN. I'm so pleased that so many heart patients have found it to be a valuable tool for heart-healthy eating. Keep up your good work. It shows what people can do when they have the right information & are motivated. I wish you many more years of playing with your grandchildren.
