I had by-pass surgery on March 11th. Doctors are pleased with my recovery.rnMy problem is changing my diet. I have gluten intolerance. Is the Mediterranean diet adaptive for my food restrictions? Any other suggestions besides a dietitian? I have started with one, but I feel rnthat diet selections are still my decision. As a result I have a very monotonous diet.

I don't have a gluten problem, but I do know what you mean by monotony. When I forst started to change my diet, it seemed like we made the same three or four recipes all of the time. When I started to model my eating on the Mediterranean diet, however, variety increased and monotony went away.

You might check out the recipes in my book - THE HEALTHY HEART DIET - & pick out a few that you think you'd like. Then check with a dietitian to determine if they meet your gluten requirements of if they need to be further adpated.

Don't give up. Food that has variety and taste is the foundation of a healthy diet.
