Did your siblings and parents also have heart disease at a young age? I meant to ask this at your seminar last night.

Thanks for the question. Yes, my family has been prone to high cholesterol and heart disease at an early age. But while genetics may have played a role in my disease, I think lifestyle habits had a greater influence. And since I couldn't change my parents, I concentrated on changing my habits...and it's worked for 32 years!

Genetic makeup is not predestination. I have seen people with bad genes override them with good lifestyle habits, and I've seen people with good genes override them with bad lifestyle habits. It's all about how we choose to live.
