My husband is recovering from a heart attack and the doctor has suggested a cardiac rehabilitation program. My husband is reluctant to take the time. What do you think?

Joe says:
I agree with his doctor. When I went through bypass surgery, there were no cardiac rehabilitation programs available. So, I had to struggle to figure out how to eat better, exercise effectively and manage my stress. Cardiac rehabilitation programs provide the "how to" of healthy living and make it much easier to start and maintain a heart-healthy lifestyle. Otherwise, your husband may revert to unhealthy choices.
There is also new research on thousands of heart patients that clearly shows a relationship between attending cardiac rehabilitation sessions and reducing the rate of fatal heart attacks. Says Dr. Stanley Hazen of the Cleveland Clinic, "The more cardiac rehab sessions a patient goes to, the better off they are."
Please tell your husband that Joe says participating in a cardiac rehabilitation program is the smartest thing he can do for his recovery and future. Sign up today!!

As a new patient in Cardiac Rehab (now a month and a half), I totally agree. When my blockage was discovered - two weeks after running a 5K with my kids and grandkids - I was completely surprised ! The option of attending Cardiac rehab was presented and I jumped at the chance. I thought I knew how to eat and live a healthy lifestyle - but obviously I didn't. I now have a second chance and I am going to do whatever I can to stay here and enjoy every minute.
