I'm concerned about salt in my diet. Anything to worry about besides high blood pressure?

Excessive salt in the diet has long been identified with an increase risk of high blood pressure and heart disease. But new research suggests that older adults who combine high salt consumption with low physical activity were at greater risk for cognitive decline. In other words, too much salt may be bad for your brain.
So, if you are planning to be a couch potato and watch every football bowl game, a good suggestion is to replace the salty snacks - chips and pretzels - with fruits and vegetables. And take a walk at halftime!
