I'd like to welcome my newest grandchild, Joseph Charles Piscatella, named after me. He was born in Pacific Palisades, CA, on August 18.rnrnWhen I went through bypass surgery in 1977 at age 32, the prognosis was not good. One doctor predicted that I would not live to age 40 and would miss seeing my children, then ages 6 and 4, graduate from high school. This may have been the best thing that ever happened to me. From that moment on I focused less on what I had to do - exercise regularly, eat healthy, manage my stress and stay away from cigarette smoke - and more on why I wanted to do it. Soon my heart-healthy way of living became second nature.rnrnToday I am 31 years post bypass surgery and have seen my children grow up, graduate, get married and start their own families. In 1977 I never thought I'd hold a grandchild, but today I hold four of them - including the newest, Joe. Heart-healthy living is not always easy to stick with, but when I look at my grandchildren, I know it has been worth the effort.rnrnJoe Piscatella
