Joe says:
Walnuts and almonds are recommended because they contain protective omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3's benefit heart health.
New research now shuggests that eating pistachios is good for your heart as well. They not only lower LDL cholesterol but also pack a potent antioxidant punch. Pistachios contain beta-carotene, lutein and other antioxidants that help to combat inflammation in the body. And since coronary inflammation can trigger a heart attack, a decrease in inflammation is good for the heart.
Experts recommend eating two daily servings of pitachios (about 1.5-ounces per serving) to bring about a cardiac benefit. But as with advice about other nuts, be careful not to overeat as pistchios are rich in calories.
